Clubs & Groups

NESS supports and / or hosts a wide range of clubs and groups which bring people together. Many are delivered by the members themselves, some with the assistance of NESS’ volunteers.

Aberdeen Deaf Club

An independent club for Deaf people in Aberdeen. Meets every second Saturday afternoon from 1.00 - 5.00pm at John Street. British Sign Language (BSL) is used at this club. Hearing people who use BSL and learners are also welcome.


Aberdeen Macular Society

A peer-led support group for anyone with Macular Degeneration. This group is associated with the Macular Society and meets at John Street on the third Friday of the month at 10.30. Contact the Macular Society (www.macularsociety.org) for updates and further information.


ARBROATH EYES AND EARS

A social and information group for people with sensory loss in the Arbroath area.


BRECHIN SENSORY GROUP

A social and information group for people with a sensory loss in the Brechin area. Meets monthly on a Tuesday afternoon St Andrews Church Hall, 66 St Andrew St, Brechin DD9 6JB from 1.30 – 3.30pm. Our fantastic Brechin members have opened their hearts, and their group, to members from Montrose while they grow their own membership.


BUCKIE SENSORY GROUP

A social and information group for people aged over 65 with sight and /or hearing loss in Buckie and the surrounding area. This group is associated with our CIS service and meets every other Tuesday afternoon from 2.00 – 4.00pm at Portessie Hall

DUNDEE SENSORY GROUP

A social and information group for people with sensory loss in Dundee. Meets on the last Monday of the month from 11.00am – 1.00pm at Number Ten.


ELGIN SIPS (SENSORY IMPAIRED PERSONS)

A social group for people aged over 65 who have a sight and/ or hearing loss in Elgin. This group is associated with our CIS service and meets every Monday afternoon from 2.00 – 4.00pm at Elgin Community Centre.


THE EVERGREENS CLUB

An independent social club for Deaf senior citizens. British Sign Language (BSL) is used at this club. Meets at NESS John Street every Thursday from 1.30 - 4.00pm.


THE FERRY SENSORY GROUP

A social and information group for people with a sensory loss in the Broughty Ferry area. Meets monthly on a Tuesday afternoon St Aidan’s Centre


FORFAR SENSORY GROUP

A social and information group for people with a sensory loss in the Forfar area. Meets monthly on a Wednesday from 1.30 - 3.30pm at the Guide Hall.


FORRES SENSORY GROUP

A social group for people with a sensory loss in Forres and the surrounding area. This group is associated with our CIS service.


HARD OF HEARING SUPPORT GROUP

A peer support group for Moray people with hearing loss, held in Elizabeth House, Elgin from 10.30am- 12.30pm on alternate Wednesdays.


Hearing Loss Support Group (Aberdeen)

The group offers a chance for people with a hearing loss to meet others facing similar challenges. 


KEITH SENSORY GROUP

A social and support group for people aged over 65 with sensory loss in Keith and the surrounding areas. This group is associated with our CIS service and meets on the first Thursday of each month from 2.00 - 4.00pm in Taylor Court, Keith.


KREE 8 KLUB

A group for people aged over 65 with a sensory loss to enjoy crafty activities and good company. Meets from 1.30 - 3.30pm every Wednesday at Elizabeth House, Elgin.


KIRRIE SENSORY GROUP

A social and information group for people with a sensory loss in the Kirriemuir area. Meets monthly on a Wednesday from 1.30 - 3.30pm at Kirriemuir United Parish Church


THE MEN’S GROUP

A chance for the men to meet up and put the world to rights. Thursday mornings 9.30 - 12.30 at John Street


Montrose Sensory Group

Our small but perfectly formed Montrose Sensory Group is curently meeting alongside the Brechin Group until they get some additional members.


MORAY DEAF CHURCH

Church service worship led by a Deaf minister in British Sign Language (BSL) on the second Saturday of each month at 2.00pm as part of the Moray Deaf Club.


MORAY DEAF CLUB

An independent club for Deaf People in Moray. Meets on Saturday afternoons from 2.00 - 4.00pm at Elizabeth House in Elgin. BSL is used at the club. Hearing people with good BSL are also welcome.


NESS ENTERTAINMENT SET

Making the most of theatre shows with special access features for blind and partially sighted audience members, this group meets to attend theatre performances: usually Saturday afternoon matinee features at his Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen.
