Join our informal and interactive Sensory Awareness Training session in Aberdeen to find out more about how you can support people living with a sensory loss. People with a sensory loss say that they want people to be more aware of their needs, and NESS's Sensory Awareness Training will provide you with a detailed overview of what sensory loss (sight loss and hearing loss) is and how it may affect someone.
During the training, you will become more aware of the physical, social and emotional impact that sensory loss can have on someone and you will explore some of the basic communication skills that can enable you to communicate more confidently and effectively with someone with a sensory loss.
You will learn basic sighted guiding skills to give you the confidence to assist someone who is blind or visually impaired get out and about, as well as having an overview of all the aids, equipment and adaptations that someone with a sensory loss might use to maintain their independence.
The training runs from 9.30 to 4pm at Elizabeth House, Victoria Crescent, Elgin IV30 1RQ and costs £60. This includes refreshments, lunch (which is an integral part of the training), a full training pack and a Certificate of Attendance.
